An upright book gives tall compositions a natural home while still allowing varied layouts inside.
A5 or A4 portrait?
Choose A5 for a compact family album or gift. A4 gives taller photographs, wedding portraits and detailed images more space. Think about the photographs you want to feature at a larger size before choosing the format.
Mix vertical and horizontal images
You can use landscape photographs inside a portrait book. Give a wide photograph its own layout or group related images on a page. Check the crop instead of assuming every photograph must fill the page from edge to edge.
Choose the cover and inside finish
Softcover uses flexible 250gsm silk with gloss lamination. Hardcover uses 200gsm silk wrapped around rigid 2.25mm board, gloss lamination, traditional folded endpapers and gauze spine reinforcement. Standard books use 170gsm gloss inside pages; Recycled options use 170gsm 100% recycled silk with a subtler sheen.
Build a clear sequence
Start with 20 pages. Add pages in two-page spreads while designing, up to 200 pages. A book started with 20 pages cannot be reduced below 20. Alternate standout portraits with details and group photographs to tell the story. Additional two-page spreads cost £0.28 for A5 and £0.35 for A4 or Square. Extra spreads are excluded from Picsme Forever.

What does portrait mean for a photo book?
Portrait describes the upright shape of the book. Picsme offers A5 and A4 portrait photo books; it does not mean that every photograph inside must be vertical.
Can I include landscape photos in a portrait book?
Yes. Choose layouts that suit each photograph, and check any cropping before ordering. You can mix vertical and horizontal images throughout the book.
