Photo poster guide

A poster works well when you already have a frame, want to create a larger display or prefer to choose your own mounting method. Start by measuring the place it will hang and, if applicable, the inside opening of your frame.

Sizes and current prices

Use the measurements in the size selector when matching a poster to a frame. Some of our poster labels use dimensions that differ from ISO A sizes. The table shows the current product-option labels so you can compare the measurements directly.

Size / optionCurrent price from
A5 (14.8 x 21 cm) £2.49
A4 (21 x 29.7 cm) £2.99
A3 (30 x 40 cm) £3.99
A2 (42 x 59.4 cm) £6.99
A1 (59.4 x 84.1 cm) £10.99
A0 (84.1 x 118.9 cm) £12.99

Prices shown are current product prices before an eligible Picsme Forever discount. Delivery is separate unless your order qualifies for free delivery.

Portrait and landscape swap the orientation of the same dimensions. At the current specification, changing orientation or choosing silk instead of uncoated does not add to the price for a given size. Your selected product total is shown before ordering.

Silk or uncoated paper?

200gsm silk has a smooth coated surface with a gentle sheen. It suits photographic prints when you prefer that surface appearance.

200gsm uncoated has a more natural, tactile surface and a softer appearance. It can suit illustrations, artwork and photographs where that finish is part of the look you want.

Both are 200gsm paper. That describes weight, not a guarantee that different papers will show colour in exactly the same way. Your image and the lighting where the print is displayed also affect the result.

Choosing a size for the room

Small prints can work in groups or on a shelf when framed. A larger image can become the focus of a wall, but needs enough room around it. Mark out the proposed size with removable paper before ordering so you can judge it against nearby furniture.

A larger print also needs an image with enough detail. If your photograph is small or heavily cropped, consider a smaller print rather than enlarging it further.

Framed print guide

Our framed prints combine a 200gsm silk print with a solid pine frame and clear Perspex front. They are available in A5, A4 and A3 options, in portrait or landscape, with Black, White or Natural Wood finishes.

Understand the frame profile

The slim profile measures 12 × 22mm: a 12mm face and 22mm depth. The wider profile measures 22 × 22mm: a 22mm face and 22mm depth. The product selector labels these as 12mm and 22mm.

The wider face gives the image a more substantial border. The slimmer face creates a lighter visual outline. Frame profiles describe the frame material around the print; they are not the dimensions of the photograph.

Size / frame profileCurrent price from
A5 / 12mm £11.19
A4 / 12mm £14.46
A5 / 22mm £14.69
A3 / 12mm £17.62
A4 / 22mm £17.96
A3 / 22mm £21.12

Prices shown are current product prices before an eligible Picsme Forever discount. Delivery is separate unless your order qualifies for free delivery.

The selected size and profile determine the current price. Portrait and landscape options at the same size and profile are currently priced equally. Check the product selector for the complete colour and orientation choices.

Choose a finish for your photograph

  • Black: a defined border that can suit monochrome images or a consistent gallery wall.
  • White: a lighter outline that can work with pale walls and softer photographs.
  • Natural Wood: a visible wood finish for a warmer presentation.

For a group of prints, keep either the frame finish, image treatment or spacing consistent. Matching everything is optional, but a shared element helps the group feel deliberate.

Allow for the outside of the frame when measuring your wall space. Contact us before ordering if you need an exact overall external measurement for a tight space.

Prepare your photo or artwork

  1. Start with the original file. A high-resolution original gives more flexibility than a screenshot or compressed social-media copy.
  2. Match the shape. A wide landscape photograph and a tall portrait print have different proportions. Check what will be cropped or choose a layout with margins.
  3. Protect important details. Keep faces, signatures and small lettering away from trim edges and the area that may sit behind a frame edge.
  4. Check the preview. Look at the final crop and any image-quality warning before paying.
  5. Review text separately. Names, dates and wording in a poster design need proofreading as carefully as the photograph needs checking.

JPG and PNG are reliable choices when preparing photo uploads. Use the formats offered by the current editor. If you are photographing artwork, keep it flat, light it evenly and position the camera square to the surface.

A screen emits light; a print reflects it. Screen brightness, paper and room lighting affect appearance, so colours and shadow detail may look different in print.

How we print and finish wall art

Our existing production process uses Canon iX digital presses for sizes up to A3 and Canon Colorado technology for larger formats from A2 upwards. Jobs are matched to the process suited to the size and material.

Kodak Prinergy and colour-management workflows support preparation and consistency. In-house cutting uses guillotines and Zünd systems as appropriate to the job. Framed prints are then assembled with the selected solid wood frame and clear front.

Printing, cutting and assembly all affect the finished piece. Keeping them in-house gives us direct control of these stages. See how this relates to our pricing.

Display and care

Handle loose prints by their edges with clean, dry hands. Avoid damp areas and prolonged direct sunlight. Use wall fixings suitable for your wall and the weight of the framed piece; seek advice if you are unsure.

Keep moisture and abrasive cleaners away from the print and clear front. A soft, dry cloth is a sensible starting point for light surface dust.
